PROFILE OF THE ORGANISATION AND BRIEF DETAILS OF THE PROJECT

 Lions Club of Jamalpur Welfare Trust has been established in 1998 with objective to work for social, economic and moral development of the people. The Trust has been registered vide Deed no. 2491-with the office of Addl. District Registrar, Jamalpur Sub-Registry Office. The Trust having  following statutory clearances.

i) Exempted u/s 80 G a nd registered under 12A of I T Act,

ii) Pollution clearance from WBPCB,

iii) Registered under FCRA of MHA, Govt. of India,

iv) Registered under CSR act of Ministry of Cor;porate Affairs,

v) Registered under portal of NITI AYOG (DARPAN ID),

  The Trust is the institutional member of Vision 2020 The Right to Sight India. The Trust is having partnership with Operation Eyesight Universal, Canada , SEVA Foundation ,. USA , Give Sight Global , Vatsalya Foundation , Ncourage Foundation etc.

A number of permanent projects are running by the Trust for providing support to the people of area. The details are as under:

i) Lions Seva Eye Hospital- a 30 bedded Eye Hospital,

ii) Seva Diagnostic Centre,

iii) Seva  Dental Clinic,

iv) Seva Training Centre – a training centre recognised by Medical Faculty of West Bengal,

v) TIYASA – a drinking water project,

The latest project started in 2020 under name and style “AMAR SATHI – a Women Empowerment cum Livelihood Programme “.

Under the project an all Women Group – PRERONA has been created with the members of existing Self Help Group. The number of member at present is 60 and all belongs to weaker section of the society.

AMAR SATHI – A WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

The project is designed to work for improving the menstrual hygiene as well as livelihood of the women belong to weaker section specially the Self Help Group members. As a part of the programme three sanitary napkin production units have been established and started commercial production in July, 2020. One unit out of the three has been established in support of Vatsalya Foundation financed by Life Insurance Corporation Golden Jubilee Foundation.

The members of PRERONA have been provided necessary training to manufacture sanitary napkin. In each shift six women are working and getting remuneration according to production. Some members have taken the responsibility to sale through SHG members, ASHA and ANGANWADI workers. The Trust constitute a training cell for imparting awareness among the SHG members and their families.Daily production is around 1500 pads. The production capacity can be increased to 3000 pads per day.

Product:

The sanitary napkin produced in our project is 100 % bio-degradable and made from banana fibre. It is soft, comfortable, leak proof and easily wearable. Other items used in the napkin are also made from organic items. Used napkin is compostable within six months. Sanitary pads are available in two sizes – regular and extra-large. The product is sterilized and available in regular and XL sizes.

Amar Sathi sanitary napkin bears the logo of     and our logo . i.e. branded by International Organisation – Lions Clubs International and our own brand.

FOCUS

The project aimed to provide livelihood support to the women belongs to weaker section and making aware the need of switching from the conventional method. Trainers and members of PRERONA also undertakes Awareness Camp in different community regarding the need of maintaining menstrual health and the benefit of using sanitary napkin instead of conventional method. The product is environment friendly and fully compostable within six months.

PACKING : The price is affordable. Products are available in Regular and XL sizes and each packet contains 5 / 6 and 10 number pads.

PRODUCTION : The sanitary napkin are produced by the members of SHG on commission basis. The entire process from production,packaging,branding and awareness camps are being done by the members of SHG.

DISTRIBUTION : The members of the PRERONA are engaged in sale also. They have supplied t napkin to each SHG group for distribution among the members and also for use of family members and friends.The SHG members engaged in sale is getting commission against sale. Any member may undertake both the functions and are getting moderate commission.

Lions Club of Jamalpur Welfare Trust has extended support to PRERONA in different ways e.g. rent free space, free electricity and the most vital part taking care of the accounts and finance. The Trust also extending support to supply in bulk and help making permanent tie up with NGOs and bulk buyers.
